Sarah’s Senior Pictures

I was standing in the middle of a wide and kind of deep creek with waders on, feeling like the current may tip me over into the water and sweep my camera away, and watching for critters that may be getting to close. Are there snakes in creeks? Thankfully that thought disappears as I think how ecstatic I am to have found that special person who is willing to let me take their pictures in a rowboat in the middle of the water. For the last two years I have been asking and conniving all kinds of people to climb into a boat for their photo session....

Fitness Pictures With Erika and Alyssa

This was not my typical kind of photography session…Erika talked to me about taking some “fitness” pictures a while back when I first did a photography session of both Erika and her husband, Jake (you can see their session here).  Erika and her friend Alyssa enjoy working out and like to lift weights.  A lot.  They wanted to get some pictures doing something they are passionate about. Sweet little Emelyn is just seven days old when we took her pictures.  She was still very sleepy and wrinkly.  I think she had a right to be sleepy today as she had a very busy and active night.  She was just getting to know both of her parents a bit more.  Mom and dad were operating on somewhat of a slower gear.  Emelyn’s older brother, Grayson, seemed to be going at his usual gear of just over full speed.  :)  Mom feeds Emelyn and spends some time rocking her to sleep.  This gives me a chance to get a few pictures of mom with...

I first met mom when she welcomed home her husband after a one year deployment to Afghanistan.  That was the first time that dad had the chance to meet his new daughter.  Talk about an emotional homecoming (jump over and see their video here!).  So, not...

A Family Portrait Session At A Beautiful Location

I love trying a new location for portrait sessions. It is even more fun when the family that I am going to meet has suggested the location because it is a favorite place of theirs to visit together and spend time. How great to have the location have meaning to the family that will be hanging these pictures in their home. It is even more fun when I arrive there, not knowing what to expect, and see a beautiful backdrop of grass, dunes, forest trees, sand, a river and a somewhat nearby beach. I wonder to myself how I ever would have come across...
